Best Coffee Spots began in Hamilton, Ontario, when I was struggling to find spots to settle down with my laptop to get some work done. For the time being we are still only reviewing the greater Hamilton and Burlington areas, but as our network of curators hopefully grows, we'll be able to include a lot more cities!
Search results don't drink coffee.
My day job takes me all over the area, and once I'm done, I often want to pull into a nearby coffee shop and do some writing, but I struggled to find the right info without having to google and navigate through a bunch of different sites, often still being disappointed with the spot when I got there. The hours were sometimes wrong and I found the place closed, or sometimes there just wasn't enough information and I blindly went somewhere that wasn't what I expected.
I wished I could just log into one place, type in a city or neighbourhood, or glance at a map, and find the right spot. That solution didn't exist, so I decided to build it, and best coffee spots was born!

No pay-to-play for coffee shops, but we still would like to make a buck.
Shop owners cannot pay to be listed and they cannot pay to raise a grade. If a featured coffee spot has payed to be featured, it will be clearly marked as a sponsor. If it is not marked it means we featured it just because we liked it. We will not feature any spots that we don't like, even if they are sponsored. We hope to fund the site in the future by the occasional ad placement, affiliate links on bean retail, and seasonal sponsorships clearly marked as such. At the moment, we are only in the Greater Hamilton Area and surroundings, but we'd like to expand to other cities across Canada and even beyond! To do that, we'll need a a small team in each city that enjoys exploring new spots to work in. If you want to contribute to the scene in your city, please get in touch!
